Inside the wheelhouse needed a veneer finish which was done using a couple of shades of brown paint. Normally when painting you try and avoid brush marks but for wood grain, the more brush marks the better.
The floor was painted doing odd planks first, then when dry the evens were done. this means the evens get slightly less paint as any that strays onto the odds results in a darker colour enhancing the stripe effect.
The cabinets were painted prior to fitting for ease. Again additional coats on certain parts gives a more wood like appearance.
The final details added at this stage were the instrument panels. The graphics in them were scaled down pictures of actual displays found on the internet and printed.
